Saying, “Someday, I’ll do this or that” or “Someday when I am more/ less this or that…” is like waiting for the time fairy to add an extra day to your week. It’s never going to happen! Time, just like your purpose in life, is not something you have to find. It’s not some elusive […]

Saying, “Someday, I’ll do this or that” or “Someday when I am more/ less this or that…” is like waiting for the time fairy to add an extra day to your week. It’s never going to happen!

Time, just like your purpose in life, is not something you have to find. It’s not some elusive thing that you need to chase after with the hope of finding enough of it.

You are not living your life to find your purpose; living your life IS your purpose. You have enough time to do what you are supposed to do.

Time is a finite resource

The problem is, you don’t know how much you have. Unlike money, you can’t use it to make more.

You know there is an ultimate “deadline”.

The tricky part is the finish line, that elusive imaginary line that seems to keep moving! Let’s think about it as a series of milestones along your timeline. You have to make constant adjustments to make sure you are headed in the right direction.

They say you only live once, but I think there are a variety of lifetimes that we live between our beginning and our end.

Plan ahead

A well-thought-out plan may seem like time well spent, but we often confuse planning with progress.

I call it “procrastiplanning”. Thinking things through from every angle but not taking any action.

Time goes by but you are still standing in the same place. It’s like a movie scene where it seems like the person is in motion, but only the background is moving.

Can time be controlled?

Time cannot be controlled but you can choose how you spend it. Yet, most of us make statements like we have no choice and someone else is controlling time for us. To make the best use of “your” time, let’s explore what we say vs what we mean.

Look at the chart below:

Time is not on your side. It’s also not against you. We all get to choose what actions we will take or not take as time goes by without concern about what we are doing one way or another.
