How To, Insights, Retreats and Events

“What if nobody comes?” should not be your first question

You’ve been thinking about it for a while now.

Maybe it started as a quiet thought you didn’t say out loud. Maybe you’ve mentioned it to a friend or a colleague and then quickly added, “but I don’t know if anyone would actually come.” Maybe you’ve saved venue links and then closed the tab and told yourself you’d think about it more when the timing was better.

The timing has never gotten better, has it?

Here’s what I’ve noticed after working with female entrepreneurs on retreat planning: the idea doesn’t go away. It just gets quieter when life gets loud. And then something happens… a conversation, a post, an event you attend… and it comes rushing back.

That’s not a coincidence. That’s your instinct trying to get your attention.

It’s really a trust question

When I talk to women who are sitting on a retreat idea, there’s one question that shows up more than any other. More than “how much will it cost?” More than “how do I find a venue?” More than “what would I even do for three days?”

And I want to sit with that for a second. Because it sounds like a practical concern, a numbers question, a marketing question, a timing question. But it’s not really any of those things.

Do you trust that the people who already follow you, buy from you, learn from you, the ones who tell you that you changed the way they think about their business- do you trust that those people would want to be in a room with you?

Because here’s what I’ve seen, over and over: the women who ask “what if nobody comes” already have people who would come. They have an audience. They have relationships. They have clients who would say yes before they finished the sentence.

The ask is scary when the plan is fuzzy

This is the part nobody talks about.

It’s not that your people won’t come. It’s that you can’t confidently invite them yet because the retreat only exists as an idea in your head. No dates. No price. No clear picture of what it would actually be.

And you can’t get confident about the invite until you’ve made the decisions. The right decisions. In the right order.

What is this retreat designed to change for the people who attend? Who is it truly for and who is it not for? What does the experience need to feel like? What do you need to charge to make it worth your time and theirs?

When those questions have answers, everything shifts. The retreat stops being a wish and starts being a plan. And a plan is something you can invite people into.

What a month of thinking has shown you

If you’ve been reading along this month, you already know more than you think.

You know that overwhelm at the start of the planning process is not a stop sign; it’s what happens when a big idea meets a brain that hasn’t been given a roadmap yet.

You know that the most transformational moments at a retreat happen in the margins, in the unscripted, unplanned spaces you have to protect.

You know that your salary is a retreat expense, not a hope and that profitable retreats are designed, not wished for.

And you know that the idea that keeps coming back to you? It’s not random. It’s your instinct telling you your people are ready for something more. And so are you.

Still have questions about retreat decisions, pricing, or something else? Or wondering whether your idea is ready to build into a real plan? I offer a free 30-minute Retreat Idea Audit call for exactly this conversation. No pitch, no pressure, just a straight answer about where you are and what your next step looks like.

What’s my next step to turn my retreat dream into a real plan

I built the Retreat Experience Roadmap Group for exactly this moment.

Not for the woman who has everything figured out. For the woman who has the idea, the audience, and the drive and needs someone to walk alongside her through the decisions, in the right order, so she can stop wondering and start planning.

Eight weeks. A room full of women doing this alongside you. A framework that takes you from your good idea to a complete retreat plan, ready to launch. This isn’t a figure-it-out-on-your-own download. We will be learning, then implementing EVERY week.

Enrollment is open now, but spots are limited to make sure each group member gets the individual attention they deserve.

If you’ve been nodding your head all month, this is your next step.
